The Reunification Palace (formerly known as Norodom Palace, today also known as Independence Palace or Reunification Hall) is an architectural work and building in Ho Chi Minh City. This used to be the residence and working place of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. Currently, the Vietnamese government has been classified as a special national monument.

In 1858, the French colonialists started their attacks against Da Nang, opening the war of aggression against Vietnam. In 1867, the French occupied the continent of Cochinchina. In 1868, the French government began to design and build in the center of Saigon a mansion as a residence for the Governor of Cochinchina, when it was built, it was called Norodom Palace.

After a string of historical events, in September of 1954, Palace Norodom was handed over between the representative of the French government and the representative of Saigon government, president Ngo Dinh Diem. Ngo Dinh Diem decided to change the name of the Palace into Independence Palace. From then on, the Palace of Independence became the residence of Ngo Dinh Diem's family and witnessed many political events.

On February 27, 1962, Vietnam was bombed, causing a bomb to collapse the entire left wing of the Palace. Because it could not be restored, Ngo Dinh Diem leveled and built a new mansion right on the old ground according to the design project of Architect Ngo Viet Thu - the first Vietnamese who won the Roman Prize.

Ngo Dinh Diem decided to start construction of the Palace on July 1, 1962. On the inauguration of the Palace on October 31, 1966, the chairman of the ceremony was Nguyen Van Thieu, Chairman of the National Leadership Committee. Today, the Independence Palace is a special national monument that is visited by many domestic and foreign tourists and is a meeting and reception place for central and city leaders.

Nowadays, the Independence Palace is located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1. This address is also near other attractive tourist destinations such as Notre Dame Cathedral, April 30 park, Central Post Office, etc.

The Reunification Palace has a floor area of up to 120.000 meters square located in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, limited by four main streets, namely Nam Ky Khoi Nghia in the Northeast, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in the North, Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street in the southwest, and Nguyen Du in the southeast. There are also many ancient trees on the grounds of the palace with different species grown from the French colonial period.

The Independence Palace has such unique architectures, with some most famous and specific areas that worth-visiting in the ballroom, where can hold the capacity of 500 people, which is used to hold meetings, receptions, and cabinet launch ceremonies; the residence of the President's family and the basement – where all the important documents are kept.
